New 4th Degree Regalia Rules for the Arlington Diocese

With the installation of the new Bishop in the Arlington Diocese, we reviewed our Color Corps procedures to ensure they comply with the intent of the new Bishop.

Bishop Burbidge has no objections to the Color Corps carrying swords at his liturgies if they remain in their scab-bards. Based on this guidance, the current Color Corps policy for liturgical events when Bishop Burbidge is present, is now modified to say that when the Bishop is present, Color Corps members may carry swords but they will not be un-sheathed. Swords will not be drawn, at the carry, or presented during liturgies in which the Bishop is present. All salutes will be hand salutes.

Color Corps activities at local parish events, when the Bishop is not present, is not changed. Swords may be used with the permission of the local Pastor.

This guidance does not affect current policy in the Richmond Diocese.
